143 - 4,500 yards down. Thousands to go!

143 Days to go! Isn't the pool above amazing? Since I don't belong to a gym, much less a gym with a pool, I needed to find a place to train that didn't require membership. Luckily, my friend and old MN teammate, Lauren Asay (thanks Lauren!), told me about the Evelyn Kirrane pool in her neighborhood in Brookline. You can pay-per-swim and the facility is fantastic (complete with little kids swim lessons in the wading pool, which I LOVE. Seeing little kids dunk under water for the first time is great)! Erik and I checked it out on Saturday and we both swam a mile and left feeling tired but good. Being back in the water was so exhilarating that I decided to head back on Sunday for another 2,500 yards.

Also, check out the amazing feat that the Swim Around Key West race director, Bill Welzien, completed. Now that's hardcore. Congrats, Bill!

Thanks for reading!

  1. During my Boston swimming summers, a couple triathletes swam (occasional) practices with the team. Let me know if you want to try it out! Can't wait to read more updates.

  2. Do you know which team it was? I'm looking to join the Cambridge Masters Team :)
